The library has received a grant from the American Library Association and NextBook to conduct two series of book discussions, co-sponsored by the Fetzer Institute. Beginning on January 12, interested participants can sign up at the Reference Desk for the series starting in January. The sessions will be Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Barbara Bilson, former professor of English at Santa Monica College, will be leading the five-part book discussion series.  The dates and books to be read and discussed are –             February 21—PAULA by Isabel Allende            March 14—DISGRACE by J.M. Coetzee            March 28—Jazz by Toni Morrison            April 18—THE DEATH OF IVAN ILLYCH by Leo Tolstoy            May 9—THE DEAD by James Joyce
