Nancy Gilmore Receives the “Harvey Elparin Tutor of the Year” Award
The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library’s LAMP (Literacy for All of Monterey Park) Program celebrated 24 years of service to the community during its annual Tutor-Learner Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, July 19 from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of Monterey Park. Literacy Volunteer Instructor Nancy Gilmore received the Harvey Elparin “Tutor of the Year” Award for earning the most volunteer hours in service. Gilmore was born in Indiana. After WWII she moved to California. She loves to travel and be outdoors with her family. Gilmore has volunteered with LAMP Literacy at Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library for more than three years.
Every month, LAMP Literacy trains volunteers interested in making a difference in someone’s reading and writing goals. Interested volunteers should contact the LAMP office at (626) 307-1251 for the next tutor training date.
