Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Prize Discussion Group meets in Group Study Room #2 at the library for discussions of books written by prize-winning authors. The group has been meeting since 1991 with Norm Jaffe as the group coordinator and Bob Bergeron as the group discussion leader.
There will be an open computer lab Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The lab is designed to offer reinforcement and practice time for students in the library’s computer classes and is also open to all those who need personalized help with computer programs such as E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet. A library staff member will be present to answer questions.
Children's storytime for children K-3rd grade. This free program lasts about 30 minutes. It is held in the Storytime Room.

On Monday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m., the Children’s Services Department will conduct an online children’s database training session in the Computer Lab for children and their accompanying parents. The training includes library’s recently acquired BookFlix, Brainfuse, Learning Express, and California Mission e-books. The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library will present a Monthly Chinese Movie Screening each month. The free screening will start at 2:00 PM on the 2nd floor Friends Room. The next screening is on December 12.
December's Chinese movie is “After This Our Exile”, which was directed by Hong Kong movie director Patrick Tam. In this film set in Malaysia, the famed Hong Kong singer/actor Aaron Kwok plays a never-do-well man who repeatedly disappoints his girlfriend of many years. When she decides to leave him to pursue a better future, he is left with his son. And following that is a series of unfortunate and bittersweet events which will change both of their lives forever.
To help youths prepare for a healthy and fun holiday season, on Tuesday, December 14 at 4:00 p.m. in the Friends Room, the Children’s Services Department has invited Ms. Mia Zhang to present a free “Yoga for Tweens” program for children aged 9-12. Ms. Zhang was a professional dancer and choreographer on the national stage in Beijing, China. She is a certificated yoga teacher and currently is pursuing her teaching certificate in Child Development. Children need to bring their own yoga mats and wear soft exercise clothing. The accompanying adults are also welcome to join in this fun-filled 30-minute healthy program. Santa Claus will arrive at the library for a special storytime on Tuesday, December 14 at 7:30 p.m. Children and their parents are invited to come to the Storytime Room and get in the holiday spirit with some well known holiday songs and stories. Each child will have a chance to talk to Santa and receive a special treat from his magical bag. Parents should bring their cameras in order to have a free photo taken with Santa.
