The Children's Department conducts a weekly baby storytime on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Storytime Room. Babies and their caregivers are all welcome to participate in this fun and interactive program. The free program lasts about 30 minutes.

Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Prize Discussion Group meets in Group Study Room #2 at the library for discussions of books written by prize-winning authors. The group has been meeting since 1991 with Norm Jaffe as the group coordinator and Bob Bergeron as the group discussion leader.
There will be an open computer lab Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The lab is designed to offer reinforcement and practice time for students in the library’s computer classes and is also open to all those who need personalized help with computer programs such as E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet. A library staff member will be present to answer questions.
Children's Department is pleased to announce there will be a poetry appreciation program on Wednesdays, June 3 and June 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the Storytime Room for students grade 3 to 6. This free half-hour program is hosted by Nancy Gilmore, a library board member and former elementary school principal in the Baldwin Park School District. The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library invites children from infants through sixth grade to participate in the 2009 Summer Reading Program. The program starts on Monday, June 22 and will end Friday, July 31. This year's theme is “Be Creative @ Your Library.”

As part of the Summer Reading Program, on Tuesday, June 30 there will be a "Summer Flowers" craft program open for the Summer Reading participants ages 5-12. The craft materials will be provided free for the first 30 readers. Due to the limited craft materials, pre-registration is required and will be available starting on June 23 at the Children's Desk.
