Summer Reading Program

The Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library invites children from infants through sixth grade to participate in the 2011 Summer Reading Program. The program will end Friday, August 4. This year's theme is "One World, Many Stories."

To officially kick-off the program, on Monday, June 27 at 3:00 p.m. in the Friends Room storyteller/musician Rebecca Martin will present a 45-minute "One Planet, Many Myths" storytelling program. Come and explore literary wonderland of Greek, Norse, Chinese, Indian and African myths. Due to the limited seats, pre-registration is required.

During the Reading Program, children are invited to attend arts and crafts activities at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, July 12 - "Hot Air Balloon Room Decorator," and July 26 - "Make Your Own Map" paper craft. These programs are free to the first thirty Reading Club members and their accompanying parents. Pre-registration is required one week prior to the craft program at the Children's Desk. In addition, there are three film showings and two T-shirt raffle drawings. Weekly reading incentives are given away - book bags, book covers, earth kick balls, notepads, holographic rules, board games, magnetic photo frames, jigsaw puzzles and Legoland coupons.
